This Week in Olympic Sport: January 27-February 2

The winter sport season is winding down as the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games draw ever closer but we preview what is taking place this week.

Bobsleigh and skeleton are the notable winter sports to have concluded their World Cup seasons heading into the Olympics with Lizzy Yarnold taking the women’s Crystal Globe in the latter.

However alpine skiing’s World Cup extends beyond Sochi 2014 and takes in three events this week with a men’s slalom night event to be held in Schladming.

The men also take in a downhill and giant slalom in St Moritz, replacing Garmisch-Partenkirchen, while the women head to Kranjska Gora in Slovenia.

The weekend’s sees cross-country skiing’s World Cup return in Toblach while the men’s ski jumping global tour heads back from Sapporo in Japan to Willingen.
