Walsh back in GB hockey squad

Great Britain hockey captain Kate Walsh has returned to the squad for Thursday night's encounter with Belgium four days after fracturing her jaw.

However, the 32-year-old was unlikely to feature in the match after having a titanium plate inserted in an operation to stabilise the fracture after being hit in the face with a stick.

She has done some running since returning to the Olympic Village on Wednesday, but a more likely return to the pitch is Saturday's match against China.

The Reading defender, with the left side of her face bruised and swollen, remained sat on the bench during the warm-ups, briefly helping to tidy up some of the kit.

She did not walk out with the rest of the squad for the pre-match presentations and anthems.

The match was watched by Prince Edward and his wife the Countess of Wessex, as well as Dame Kelly Holmes.
