Toulson and Lee get GB action underway at European Championships

Lois Toulson and Matty Lee got their European Championship campaign off to a promising start with a sixth-place finish in the team event in Kiev.

Olympian Toulson and Lee amassed a total of 351.20 points across their six dives, 14.9 points short of the medal positions.

French pair Laura Marino and Matthieu Rosset were crowned European champions, with teams from Ukraine and Russia occupying the remaining podium steps.

Toulson is one of three Rio 2016 stars spearheading the British Diving team in Ukraine, with Grace Reid - who became the first British female springboard diver to make an Olympic final in more than 25 years - set to compete in both the 3m and 3m synchro with new partner Katherine Torrance.

Freddie Woodward will also compete in Kiev, with James Heatly, Matthew Dixon, Noah Williams and Ross Haslam completing the male representation.

In addition to Reid, Toulson and Torrance, Phoebe Banks, Robyn Birch and Ruby Bower complete the British squad.

"The European Championships gives our divers a great opportunity to gain valuable high-level competition, experience and exposure," Kim White, team leader and British Diving performance manager, told British Swimming.

"The team has a mix of both more seasoned divers as well as some debutants to international competition.

"Phoebe Banks and Ruby Bower get a first call-up to an international team whilst taking GCSE exams in Kiev.

"The British Diving Championships in Edinburgh provided a great warm-up for the divers and we hope to feature on the continental podium several times throughout the meet."
