Sochi cross country stars return for World Championships

Great Britain have announced their team for the forthcoming Nordic Senior World Ski Championships in Falun, with all four Sochi 2014 cross country Olympians selected.

The British Cross Country team enjoyed their best ever Olympic results in Russia, with brother and sister pairing Andrew and Posy Musgrave, Andrew Young and Callum Smith all representing Team GB.

The quartet will be in action again, this time in Sweden, for the Nordic World Championships which run from February 18 to March 1 and also include the disciplines of ski jumping and Nordic combined.

Andrew Musgrave comes into the competition off an impressive season which saw him claim the best-ever result for a British cross-country ski when he finished 13th at the Lillehammer World Cup in December while he also made history earlier this month as the fastest skier in the 25km freestyle pursuit in the Tour de Ski in Toblach.

He will be looking to leave his mark in the men’s competition with 2013 European Youth Olympic Winter Festival athlete James Clugnet also in the British team while Posy will be joined in the women’s squad by Fiona Hughes and Sarah Hale.
