Dominic Parsons overtook compatriot Kristan Bromley to become the highest-placed Brit in ninth on his skeleton World Championship debut in St Moritz.
Parsons, who has competed at four World Cup rounds this season, finishing seventh in Koenigssee, was 13th after the opening run on Friday before moving up a place to 12th with his second.
In comparison Bromley was fourth first time out before ranking eighth after his second run but was still just 0.46seconds shy of Tomass Dukurs in fourth place.
Parsons moved up again this time to tenth after a third run of 1:08.70minutes, the second quickest of the field, while Bromley dropped a place to ninth after posting 1:09.28 himself.
And Parsons finally finished ninth after the final run with a total time of 4:35.77 one place ahead of Bromley, who ranked tenth overall just 0.19 behind his teammate.
Ed Smith, the third Brit in the field, ended 15th as Alexander Tretiakov dramatically became the first Russian athlete ever to win a skeleton World Championships just 0.03 ahead of Martins Dukurs.
