Ogogo going out with a Bronze for Team GB

Anthony Ogogo consoled himself with an Olympic  boxing Bronze medal for Team GB last night after losing to Brazilian Florentino Falcao at the ExCeL Arena.

Ogogo (pictured) lost his middleweight semi-final to the talented Falcao and he admitted he would only really appreciate his medal at some future point.

"I am devastated. I am really sad about it," he admitted. "He [Falcao] is a brilliant fighter. I am going to remain humble and gracious.

"It was a tough fight. I gave it my best and I have still got a Bronze medal. It has taken a lot out of me but I can't use that as an excuse. He is a good fighter and I didn't turn up.

"I am really proud to represent my country. It just wasn't my time this time. Everyone at home should be so proud of the support."

Ogogo lost the fight on points - 16-9 - and he accepted that the better fighter won on the day.

He added: "I gave it my all. No one can fault my effort. "In a few months time I might be happy, but I'm not at the moment. Getting here [to the Olympics] was an ordeal for me and then I had a tough draw."
