Nicholls rounds off campaign with World Cup podium finish

Jamie Nicholls was left grinning from ear to ear after ending his campaign on a high with bronze in the final snowboard slopestyle World Cup event of the season.

Landing a cab 1440 in his third and final run, Nicholls moved up the rankings to finish third in Spindleruv Mlyn, Czech Republic, with American Chris Corning taking the win and Fridtjof Tischendorf of Norway in second.

And that result not only earned Nicholls a spot on the podium but also saw him secure second place in the slopestyle World Cup standings behind American winner Redmond Gerard.

Gerard took home the crystal globe with 2460 points, with Nicholls just 420 behind and Canadian Mark McMorris third on 1600.

"I am really happy to finish the season off on a high with a podium in the Czech Republic,” said Nicholls, who saw team-mate Rowan Coultas finish eighth and Aimee Fuller place fourth in the women’s event.

“I won here last year, so I am glad I was able to perform again and land my 1440.

“To get second on the World Cup Tour is amazing as well, a good end to the World Cup season."
