Farah ramping up London Marathon preparation in New York

Mo Farah insists he is not about to get bogged down thinking about a finishing time as he warms up for his London Marathon debut in New York on Sunday.

Farah claimed 5,000m and 10,000m gold at London 2012 and then again a year later at the World Championships in Moscow before turning his attentions to marathon running.

The 30-year-old is no stranger to half marathons having won the New York race in 2011 before setting a new British record of 1:00.59 hours in New Orleans last year.

Farah also completed half of last year’s London Marathon and as he bids to prepare himself for the whole thing this summer by tackling this Sunday’s New York Half Marathon, he admits the time in which he crosses the finish line is none of his concern right now.

"I've won medals on the track so why not test myself," said Farah.

"If I'm good in London, then I'll do it a couple more times. If not, I'll come back to the track.

"I'm not thinking about the time I run on Sunday.

"Training's been going well. I'm testing myself to see where I am. I will try to do well in the race rather than focus on the time.

"This is about feeling good and ticking every box. It's about feeling great and getting ready for London."
