British duo fall short of final place

Divers Hannah Starling and Becky Gallantree have missed out on the final of the women's three-metre springboard at the Aquatics Centre.

Starling, at 17 the youngest competitor on show, was agonisingly just 0.75 points short of reaching a final on her Olympic debut.

The City of Leeds diver recorded the second-highest international score of her young career (313.95) but left her run too late to make the 12-diver cut-off for Sunday night's medal round.

Gallantree was well below her best with a couple of bombed dives leaving her adrift at the bottom of the rankings in 18th.

The duo had scraped into Friday's semi-final to ensure Great Britain had two divers reach this stage of a women's springboard competition at the Olympics for the first time.
