22-strong team named for Freestyle Ski and Snowboard Worlds

British Ski and Snowboard have announced their 22-strong team heading to Austria later this month for the FIS Freestyle Ski and Snowboard World Championships.

For the biggest freestyle event on this year’s calendar, taking place from January 14 to 25 in Kreischberg, all eyes will be on snowboard slopestyle athletes Aimee Fuller, Jamie Nicholls and Billy Morgan after Team GB’s success in slopestyle at Sochi 2014. The trio will be joined by big air specialist Sam Turnbull.

Katie Summerhayes, Anna Vincenti and Isabel Atkin are the three British ski slopestyle entries, with James Woods staying over in the US to compete in the X Games in Aspen.

In Ski Halfpipe, 17-year-old Molly Summerhayes will take part in her first major competition, hopefully joined by Rowan Cheshire who is currently on her way back from injury. For the men, Sochi stars James Machon and Murray Buchan will battle it out in the halfpipe with many of the world’s best riders.

In Moguls, Ellie Koyander will represent Great Britain in the ladies events, with Andrew Longley, who has come out of retirement to compete at the Championships, competing for the men.

Brother and sister Lloyd and Elodie Wallace will represent the team in the Aerials competition, while in Ski Cross Ed Drake will be representing the British men, with Liz Stevenson, Emily Sarsfield and Pam Thorburn representing the women.

In Snowboard Cross, Winter Olympian Zoe Gillings-Brier will ride alongside Stephanie Gehrig, in their first major competition of the season. For the men, Thomas Bankes will be Great Britain’s only representative.
