Steph Proud enjoyed great success as a junior and won nine medals in total, including three golds, across the 2003 and 2004 editions of the European Junior Championships. She made her World Championship debut in 2011, finishing 13th in the 200m backstroke – the event that she will swim in London after qualifying at the second trials in June. Proud trains with British teammate Gemma Spofforth at the University of Florida.
