Simon Burnett was selected for Team GB for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. He swam in the 4x100 freestyle relay and 4x100 medley relay. At the 2009 World Championships in Rome, Burnett placed seventh in the 4x200m freestyle, 20th in the 100m freestyle and 22nd in the 50m freestyle. Burnett made his international debut at the Commonwealth Games in 2002. He swam backstroke and won bronze in the 4x200m freestyle relay. In 2004 he made his Olympic debut at the Athens 2004 Olympic Games, he placed fourth in the 4x200m freestyle relay and seventh in the 200m freestyle. At the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games he won two gold and a silver. He later followed up a winning year with a silver and bronze at the European Championships. Burnett is based in Arizona where he went to university.An all-round sportsman Burnett has interests in American football, beach volleyball and yoga.
