Scottish born Michael Goodfellow was first introduced to curling by a family friend, and since then has had much success as both a junior and a senior. Goodfellow competed in two Winter Universiades in 2009 and 2011, finishing 7th and 4th respectively.

As a senior, alongside Tom Brewster, Michael won the Scottish Curling Championships on three consecutive years; 2011, 2012 and 2013.
