Born to a Chinese mother in Burnley, Holly Lam-Moores was a hugely talented sportswoman from the beginning, playing netball, football and athletics at school.

But after finally finding her calling to handball aged 12, she went on to make her debut for ​Britain in 2006 before being named BOA’s Olympic Athlete of the Year for handball in 2010.

The fervent Manchester City supporter became part of Great Britain's first ever Olympic women's handball team at the 2012 London Olympics, scoring two goals in their second game against Russia despite playing with a stress fracture of the spine.
