David Murdoch secured his status as an iconic British figure of the Winter Olympics at Sochi 2014.
David, from Lockerbie, first became World Junior Champion in 1995 and retained that crown in 1996.
By 2003 he was European Champion, a title he also held in 2007 and 2008 – interspersed with World Championship gold medals in 2006 and 2009.
Until Sochi, however, an Olympic medal had evaded the Great Britain skip, with a fourth-place finish at Turin 2006 and fifth in Vancouver four years later.
But David led his country to a memorable silver in Russia, after a thrilling semi-final victory over Sweden.
