Biography

Christine Ohuruogu is Britain’s only reigning track and field Olympic champion, having won gold with one of her trademark late charges at Beijing 2008.

That victory completed a golden two years for Ohuruogu having won the World Championship title in 2007 in Osaka however a number of injuries have hampered her since Beijing.

Injury ensured 2010 was a year to forget while her 2011 World Championships ended with disqualification after a false start in the heats of the 400m.

An impressive leg as Britain took 4x400m gold at the World Indoor Championships in Istanbul in March however suggested she might be hitting form in time for a home Games.

And at the Olympic trials in June, Ohuruogu eased to victory in 51.89 seconds to make sure of her spot at London 2012.

At the 2012 Olympics in London Ohuruogu won sliver in the women's 400m.
