BIOGRAPHY

Chris Mears made his Olympic debut at London 2012, where he finished fifth with Nick Robinson-Baker in the 3m synchro and ninth in the 3m springboard.

The Reading-born diver had a particularly fruitful 2014, combining with Jack Laugher to claim three World Series medals and Commonwealth Games gold in the 3m synchro.

The pair won World Championships bronze in the same event the following year before travelling to the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, where they were crowned champions.

Mears and Laugher made history in Rio as they became Britain's first diving Olympic champions, inspiring Team GB's divers to record their best Games with three medals won in total.

Following the Rio success, Mears’ hot streak continued by going on to win three silvers in the 3m Synchro in four World Series events.

But Leeds based diver quickly got a taste for gold again by clinching gold on the Gold Coast at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in the 3m synchro final alongside Laugher.

His fine form continued in at the 2018 European Championships, winning a silver medal again in the 3m synchro final.
