Sochi 2014 Media Accreditation

The Media Accreditation Application process for written and photographic press for the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games closed in September 2012.

Late applications will not be considered.

The allocation of press accreditations within a territory is the responsibility of National Olympic Committees. It is not the responsibility of the International Olympic Committee or the Sochi 2014 Organising Committee.

Important Key Dates

7 February 2013

Deadline for NOCs to return the completed Press by Number forms to Sochi 2014 and inform the press organisations within their territory of their accreditation allocations.

7 June 2013

Sochi distributes the Press by Name accreditation application forms and associated Press Operations publications to NOCs that have returned their Press by Number forms.

7 September 2013

Deadline for NOCs to return the completed Press by Name forms to Sochi 2014, listing the names of each press representative they have agreed to accredit.

November 2013

Sochi 2014 distributes the non-valid Olympic Identity and Accreditation Cards (OIAC) to NOCs. NOCs distribute the OIACs to their accredited press organisations.

7 January 2014

The OIAC will act as a visa to enter Russia.

7 - 23 February 2014

Sochi 2014 Olympic Games.


Press by Number: during the Press by Number process the NOC will allocate the number and type of accreditation each news organization will receive.

Press by Name: during the Press by Name process, accredited organizations need to supply the names of their media representatives who are to be accredited.

Non-Rights Holding Television and Radio Broadcasting Organisations (ENR)

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) directly grants ENR accreditation to a limited number of radio and television organisations who do not own rights to broadcast the Olympic Games (herein referred to as non- rights holders). Applications were available between 8 October and 16 November 2012. Due to the limited number of accreditations available in this category, application deadlines will be strictly observed.

Non-Game Accredited Media - Sochi Media Centre

The Sochi Media Center will operate during the 2014 Olympic Winter Games for representatives of non-accredited media from February 1 to 24. This Media Center will be located in the city centre of Sochi and will provide round-the-clock assistance to the media. More details are available at

Please note that the Sochi Media Center is not operated by Sochi 2014. The center will provide facilities and technology to help unaccredited media cover the Olympic Games. However, it will not provide such Games services as accreditation, accommodation, and transportation.
