British world silver medallist James Woods will reset his sights on this month's X Games after struggling in difficult conditions at the freestyle skiing World Cup in Breckenridge.
Woods, last season's overall ski slopestyle World Cup winner, has already achieved the Olympic selection standard, meaning the pressure is eased as others battle to stake their claims.
His two qualifying runs in Colorado ranked him a lowly 68th, with only 16 progressing to the final. British team-mate Tyler Harding also didn't advance but declared himself satisfied after ranking 30th.
Woods won a bronze at last year's X Games and, after receiving a prized invite to the event in Aspen, is considered among the favourites for the signature competition on the circuit.
British team-mate Katie Summerhayes, fourth at last season's World Championship, made a steady return to competition as she continues to recover from her knee injury.
She ranked 20th in women's qualifying, after her ski broke during her first run and she fell on the second. Team-mate Anna Vincenti was 16th - though only eight progress in the women's event - taking her one step closer to the Olympic selection standard.
Slopestyle, which involves skiers and snowboarders performing different tricks, which are judged for difficulty, on a course pitted with rails, jumps and obstacles, makes its eagerly awaited Olympic debut in Sochi next month.
