Williams and Dixon keep British medal run going with 10m synchro bronze

Noah Williams and Matthew Dixon took Great Britain's medal tally up to three at the 2017 European Championships as they clinched bronze in the 10m synchro on Thursday.

The pair looked confident off the platform together, as they ended the required rounds with a total of 99.00 points before opening up the optional rounds by scoring 80.64 for their inward 3 ½ somersaults tucked.

The British duo would eventually finish on 388.05 to secure their first European medal together behind Ukrainian gold medallists Maksym Dolgov and Oleksandr Gorshkovozov and runners up Nikita Shleikher and Aleksandr Belevtsev of Russia.

Bronze makes it three medals in three days for the team in Kiev after Ruby Bower and Phoebe Banks took 10m synchro gold yesterday, following on from Lois Toulson's maiden European title in the 10m platform on Tuesday.

"It was a good competition for us with good dives," said Dixon. "We speculated with a medal and in the end it worked out.

"We are especially pleased because we have not been diving together for a very long time."

Earlier in the day a dropped dive by Grace Reid hindered her chances of progressing past the preliminaries of the 3m springboard event.
