This Week in Olympic Sport: July 8-13

The Tour de France may have departed British shores but there’s plenty still taking place in the UK; below is a flavour of the Olympic sport on offer this week.

Millions turned out for the first three stages of the Tour as the peloton worked its way from Yorkshire to London before returning to France for the next 18.

However Glasgow is set to stage world-class athletics in the form of the latest Diamond League, Hampden Park transforming itself for track and field.

And in the capital hockey’s Investec London Cup is being staged to celebrate the opening of London 2012 legacy venue, the Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre.

England’s men and women will both be on show while there is a host of continental championships taking place, three of which come in sailing.

The respective Olympic Nacra 17, 470 and 49er classes also host their European Championships with the multi-class World Championships set for Spain in September.

There are further European Championships in canoe sprint and modern pentathlon while a trio of world-stage events in rowing, shooting and triathlon complete the week.

The final World Rowing Cup is set for the waters of Lucerne, shooting’s World Cup continues in Beijing and the World Triathlon Series lands in Hamburg.
