Georgia Ward insists she is aiming to make an even bigger splash on her return Down Under for the Australian Youth Olympic Festival.
The 17-year-old enjoyed a year to remember in 2012 as she claimed 1m and 3m synchro gold at the British Elite Junior Diving Championships in Plymouth in April.
But it wasn’t just Ward’s domestic rivals that saw what she is made of as she went on to finish seventh at the European Junior Championships and 15th at the world equivalent in Adelaide.
Ward has returned Down Under for the Australian Youth Olympic Festival and is hoping second time will be a charm as she sets her sights on a final spot.
“I have been working hard towards the Festival for quite some time,” said Ward – who will compete for the first time in the 10m platform, one of three events, on Friday
“I am just really excited about testing myself against some of the best divers and I am buzzing about the competition really.
“I have been to Australia before because I went out there to compete at the junior worlds and that was a good experience and I am really looking forward to doing it all again.
“I don’t really have any set targets but I just want to go there and enjoy it and do the best I can and see how that goes for me.
“But I am always looking to improve so hopefully I can reach a final and maybe even contest for a medal – that is always the aim.”
