Two wins from two for GB women's EuroBasket qualifiers

Head coach Peter Buckle praised his side’s quick start as Great Britain’s senior women maintained their perfect run in the EuroBasket Women 2015 2nd qualification round.

After opening up with victory over Belgium Buckle’s team travelled to Kavadarci to take on FYR of Macedonia in the first of three away fixtures.

And the journey clearly gave them itchy feet as they started with a bang, Great Britain leading 39-19 at half-time, thanks mainly to a 16-0 run.

The hosts came out fighting after the break but Great Britain held firm and secured a 78-53 win.

Great Britain will be looking to make it three wins from as many matches when they take on Lithuania on Sunday, and Buckle will be hoping his side have another fast start in their locker.

"I think that our strong start at the beginning of the game, which we were then able to replicate at the beginning of the second quarter was key for us,” Buckle said.

“What was particularly pleasing is that everybody contributed. We were also able to rotate fully and give everyone some minutes which is important with these games coming thick and fast.

"While I was very happy with our first-half, I think it was inevitable they would put up a better show after half-time. "It was always going to be a different game in the second half, but we did a good job overall and I am delighted to get another win.

“We now move on to Lithuania who are a quality team and we know they will be very well prepared, but so will we."
