Tom Daley admitted winning 10m platform silver alongside Dan Goodfellow at the Dubai World Series was an encouraging result after a week disrupted by injury and illness.
The duo, who won bronze together in Beijing last week, had been unable to train in recent days due to illness, while both have also been suffering with various injuries.
But they put their disrupted preparations to one side to climb the podium once again following a score of 428.91, with their best score coming from their back 3 ½ somersaults piked.
Gold went to Chinese duo Aisen Chen and Yue Lin with an impressive 466.50 although Daley could have no complaints about their own score, especially considering it was only their third international competition together.
“It feels good considering we haven’t had the chance to train this week as I’ve been sick owing to illness,” he said.
“I’ve had a bad back, a bad neck and Dan’s had a bad hamstring. The odds have been against us so we’ve somehow managed to pull it off on the day.
“We have one more individual event left here in Dubai, so the focus is on getting fit and ready for that.”
There was further success for Great Britain too with Tonia Couch and Lois Toulson adding to their 10m synchro silver from Beijing with bronze following a total of 311.76.
While Chris Mears and Jack Laugher rounded off a strong day on the boards with their first medal of 2016 with a score of 424.92 for bronze in the 3m synchro.
