Toulson on a roll as she and Lee take European synchro gold

Lois Toulson doubled her tally of golds won at the 2017 European Championships as she and Matty Lee finished top of the pile in the mixed 10m synchro.

Rio 2016 Olympian Toulson secured her first European title on Tuesday when she won the individual platform final.

And she was back on the top step of the podium in Kiev on Friday as she and Lee finished with a score of 308.16 points to see off their rivals.

“The medals were in our sights, we knew we could do that but when we saw we had come first, it felt pretty good,” she said.

The City of Leeds duo had looked in a strong position after placing third at the end of the required rounds.

And a score of 74.88 for their Back 2 ½ Somersaults 1 ½ Twists piked in the last round put them in the gold medal position.

That took the British team’s tally of titles won so far in the Ukraine to three after Ruby Bower and Phoebe Banks secured women’s 10m synchro gold on Wednesday.

And with further events to come this weekend, Lee was hopefully of adding to the team’s total.

“I’m very satisfied with the platforms, I can’t wait for Sunday and my individual competition,” he said.

“Lois is now double European Champion so hopefully I’ll see what happens on Sunday.

“We didn’t actually have that high expectations because we’ve not actually competed in a European or a senior event yet together.

“But we posted some good scores at the Nationals so we felt like we could do it and we came out on top so we’re very happy.”
