Team GB Exclusive: Fuller already has eyes on Korea

The Winter Olympics might be more than two years away but Aimee Fuller isn’t taking her eye off the prize as she gears up for the new season.

The 24-year-old slopestyle snowboarder turned out for Team GB at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi and is keen to improve on her performance after failing to make the final in Russia.

There is still a long way to go for Fuller before she gets the chance to showcase her talents on the biggest stage once again but she is already plotting her course to Pyeongchang 2018.

A big season lies in ahead for the Farnborough girl with Olympic qualification starting next summer and she says she can’t wait to get going after some solid preparation and some bumps and bruises along the way.

“Last season was actually really good. It was a bit different. I took a more relaxed approach, did less contests and focused on riding for myself,” said Fuller.

“It’s all about preparing for Pyeongchang because that will be around the corner before we know it and preparations starts next summer so I need to stay on that hot train.

“I feel like I have built up a really good base which hopefully is going to put me in good stead for this winter.

“It has been going really well. I had a good summer with dry land training and I’ve just been out in Austria for the last two or three weeks.

“We’ve been doing a little bit of training on an airbag in Slovakia, I had a bit of a hiccup and managed to get myself a corker of a black eye. Other than that, I’ve been feeling really solid and I had some great days riding last week. I’m heading back out there tonight, so I can’t wait.”

For Fuller the current season is all about progress and working her way into the upper echelons of the sport.

And she says that it will all be down to consistency as she looks to put all the hard work together and go head to head with the best in the business.

“I’ve got some big competitions coming up and I’m just looking to get some solid results and focus on my consistency,” Fuller added.

“I’m excited to be competing some more and I’m going to film a little bit, just keeping it fresh. I’m excited to compete as well though.

“I’d love to make the finals of Dew Tour, it’s a tough field. It’s the best girls in the world. A final result in that would be great. I think I got seventh there the year before last, making the final. That’s the plan, to get back into the finals.

“A good season for me. I’d like to see myself in the finals of all the big events this year. That’s my goal really.” Sportsbeat 2015
