Team GB Cheerleaders – Winning team announced

After a nationwide search, The North London Wildcats have today been announced as the Team GB Cheerleading squad after coming out on top in the competition to find the nation's most dynamic and entertaining cheer squad.

Britain's Got Talent Judge and Team GB celebrity ambassador, Alesha Dixon gave her casting vote to the Enfield-based Wildcats who will head straight off to perform for the crowds at Team GB’s football matches against Brazil in Middlesbrough on Friday (20 July). The ‘Team GB Lions’ will entertain crowds at a variety of venues and events during the Games and help galvanise the support of the nation.

The Wildcats made the top two in a public vote on MSN, gaining more than 3,500 votes, or 27% of the total. They were edged into second place by the Crystals before Team GB ambassador Alesha Dixon gave them her decisive backing.

“The standard of entries from the cheerleading squads across the country was amazing - I was so impressed. I picked the North London Wildcats because they were exciting, energetic and incredibly talented and I think the crowds at the Olympics will love watching them perform. I absolutely can’t wait to see them get the crowds behind Team GB during the Games and help us create the best support an Olympic team has ever had.”

The Team GB Lions will be using the supporters’ scarf as part of their Olympic routines which is available to buy from the Official Olympic clothing and homeware supplier, Next, in stores across the country or online at www.next.co.uk.
