Team GB and the National Olympic Committee for Italy have agreed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) as both organisations look to work together to further Olympic development and performance.
The MOU, signed today in Bangkok at the General Assembly of the Association of National Olympic Committees, sets out an informal training exchange agreement between the two nations.
As well as the development of the Olympic Movement, the MOU encourages both teams to support one another where possible in lead up to and preparation for both Summer and Winter Olympic Games.
Team GB will look to support primarily in summer sports, notably sailing, triathlon, track cycling, golf, fencing, shooting and athletics, while the Italian Olympic Committee will assist with winter sports; snowboarding, short track speed skating, bobsleigh, skeleton, freestyle skiing and curling.
Likely areas of support include training facilities, sports science expertise, officials, education and preparation logistics.
