Spence leads British women in European Championship final

World champion Mhairi Spence won her semi-final to lead a full compliment of British athletes into next week's women's final at the modern pentathlon European Championships in Poland.

Spence will be joined by Kate French, Freyja Prentice and Olympic silver medallist Samantha Murray, who squeaked her progression after ranking 12th in her semi, the last guaranteed qualifying spot.

While Spence shone across all five disciplines, Murray stuttered on the shooting range, something she will look to right in Monday's race for medals.

Meanwhile, Jamie Cooke, Sam Weale and Nick Woodbridge will line up in Sunday's men's semi-finals.
