Britain moved ever closer to securing three medals at the AIBA World Boxing Championships after London 2012 Olympians Andrew Selby and Fred Evans both reached the quarter-final stage.
With Anthony Fowler in the last eight of the middleweight draw, it was the turn of Welsh duo Selby and Evans to follow suit in the flyweight and welterweight respectively in Kazakhstan.
And that they did with Selby an impressive winner over Cuban Gerardo Tejeria while Olympic silver medallist from London 2012 Evans was too good for Rayton Okwiri of Kenya.
Selby, Evans and Fowler are all now one win away from at least bronze in Almaty while Scotland’s Scott Forrest lost his own last 16 light heavyweight clash to Dutchman Peter Mullenberg.
