Greg Rutherford has equalled the British long jump record at the OTC-Pre-Olympic Series II in San Diego.

The 25-year-old jumped 8.35 metres, beating his previous personal best by five centimetres and equalling the national mark set by Chris Tomlinson.

Rutherford tweeted: "Not a bad day. PB in San Diego with a cheeky +2.0 (wind speed)! Feels good with a larger crowd as well.

"The OTC in San Diego is my new fav place to jump. Actually just behind Paris and Crystal Palace."

Rutherford's next competition will be the Diamond League meet in Doha on May 11.
