Rio 2016 mixed doubles pairings announced

Team GB have today nominated entries for the tennis mixed doubles event at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

The two teams entered are:

Jamie Murray and Johanna Konta

Andy Murray and Heather Watson

Speaking on the announcement, Team GB’s tennis Team Leader Iain Bates said: “We are excited to nominate two very strong teams for the mixed doubles event here in Rio.

"The ranking cut off for the event is very high with some of the best players in the world competing here and we expect one team to make the cut.

"Jamie and Johanna will combine excellently to form an extremely competitive doubles team. Johanna is in the form of her career right now and Jamie’s doubles record, at world number one and Grand Slam winner, speaks for itself.

"The singles event is very much Andy’s focus in Rio, however given the opportunity he is keen to play the event, and in Heather we have a world class mixed doubles player and reigning Wimbledon champion in the event.” Catch all the Team GB action as it happens at Rio 2016 with out Live Blog
