After today’s action in the mountains and on the coast at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games, it’s a quieter day on Wednesday with nine athletes in action across two sports.

Eve Muirhead’s British women’s rink of herself, Anna Sloan, Claire Hamilton and Vicki Adams picked up their first win in record-breaking fashion against the USA today and face Jennifer Jones of Canada in their only match on Wednesday.

The British men’s rink, skipped by David Murdoch and also including Greg Drummond, Scott Andrews and Michael Goodfellow, also return to the ice after getting back to winning ways to take on Switzerland, who have a record of one win and one defeat in Sochi.

Chemmy Alcott will compete in the women’s downhill buoyed by a brief outing in the super combined on Monday.

Alcott placed 16th in the downhill leg of the women’s opener in Sochi, using it as training ahead of the real thing tomorrow.

She didn’t compete in the slalom leg and is making her fourth Olympic appearance after winning a fitness battle to reach the Games.
