Tiffany Porter finished fifth at the New York leg of the Diamond League as world champion Christine Ohuruogu opened her indidvidual 400m outdoor campaign in unglamorous fashion.
Porter clocked 12.89 seconds in the 100m hurdles, won by American Queen Harrison in 12.62, with Ohuruogu eighth in her first outdoor 400m run of the new season.
Ohuruogu claimed a sensational second world title in Moscow last year but managed an average time of 53.14 for eighth while teammate Shana Cox was sixth in 52.11.
In the women’s 3,000m, Julia Bleasdale continued her return to form with sixth place in a time just shy of her personal best, clocking 8:48.90minutes after running at the front.
Just six Brits were in action in total at the New York leg with James Ellington taking to the track in the 200m and Michael Rimmer running a season’s best in the 800m.
Ellington produced a good bend but had to settle for seventh in 20.57 while Rimmer was tenth in 1:46.75 with the Diamond League now set for a three-week break.
