Pendleton to host star-studded Team GB Ball

The talents of double Olympic gold medallist Victoria Pendleton are seemingly never ending and next month the cyclist-turned-jockey tries her hand at presenting as she takes up the role of host at the Team GB Ball.

Pendleton, along with co-host Mark Durden-Smith, will front the star-studded night of Olympic talent on September 9th as medallists from London 2012 and previous Games descend on London’s Royal Opera House to celebrate the countdown to Rio 2016.

Tom Daley, Sir Ben Ainslie, Beth Tweddle, Sir Steve Redgrave plus many others will join Pendleton for an evening of entertainment and auctioning and the track sprint star is looking forward to her new role as the first ever Olympian to host the Ball.

“I’ve been to a fair few Team GB Balls before as a competitor and I have always wanted to give hosting a try. With so many other Olympians coming at least I will be amongst friends when up there on stage in front of everyone,” said Pendleton.

“As well as introducing athletes, it will also be great to be involved in the fundraising side of the night. That’s a really important part of the Ball and helping the British Olympic Association support the athletes and taking a team to the Olympic Games.

“I have benefitted massively from the support of the BOA over the years and it’s great to have a National Olympic Committee that’s so forward thinking – it certainly helped give us as athletes the advantage during London 2012 so I’m looking forward to supporting that on the night.”

The last few tickets can be found here and is your opportunity to rub shoulders with your Team GB heroes and help support our Olympians on the journey to Rio 2016 and beyond.

The auction, as well as being part of the evening itself, is already live as fans can bid on a selection of once in a lifetime experiences here.

“It’s always a wonderful event and it’s so nice that so many athletes do get involved,” added Pendleton.

“It’s a great opportunity for people to come and meet their heroes and hear their stories and journeys first hand.”
