Roberto Pavoni is on course to bring the curtain down on the 2014 British Swimming Championships in style after moving a step closer to completing a golden hat-trick on the final morning session.
Pavoni has already claimed the 200m butterfly and 400m individual medley titles in Glasgow but appears far from satisfied.
The Loughborough swimmer touched home in 2:01.65 minutes to progress as the fastest 200m individual medley qualifier, ahead of Tom Litten (2:01.73) and Max Litchfield (2:02.54).
Elsewhere, Ellie Faulkner was the fastest qualifier from the women’s 400m freestyle heats, progressing in 4:11.21.
Welsh record holder Jazz Carlin touched out Faulkner for gold last year and will be by Faulkner’s side again in the final after qualifying in 4:12.08, while Hannah Miley will aim for her first medal of the Championships on the final day after progressing third fastest in 4:12.25.
