Olympic champion Rutherford on form at IAAF Diamond League

Olympic champion Greg Rutherford produced a consistent series of leaps to finish second in the long jump at the IAAF Diamond League meeting in Lausanne.

Rutherford, who sat out of last weekend's British Championships in Birmingham, went over eight metres in five of his six efforts, with a best of 8.19m meaning he finished just behind American Jeff Henderson.

James Dasaolu made his first appearance of the season after his hamstring troubles clocking an impressive 10.03 second time in the 100m B race.

Dasaolu’s time puts him second in this season’s UK rankings behind only Chijindu Ujah’s 9.96 personal best and dramatically states his case for selection for the European Championships in Zurich.

In the women's 100m B race, Desiree Henry clocked 10.40 secs to finish second and later joined forces with Asha Philip, Anyika Onuora and Bianca Williams to finish the 4x100m relay in fourth, in a time of 42.96 secs.

Meanwhile, European 800m champion Lynsey Sharp dipped below two minutes for the first time, finishing fifth in 1:59.67.

Elsewhere, Steve Lewis ranked eighth in a pole vault competition won by France's Renaud Lavillenie, the position claimed by Rhys Williams, who ran 50.30 sec in the 400m hurdles.
