Luol Deng plans to be back in British colours for the first time since the London Olympics this summer.
The two-time NBA All-Star, who recently left the Chicago Bulls for the Cleveland Cavaliers, will look to earn his 50th international cap during the EuroBasket qualification campaign.
He has been in talks with coach Joe Prunty and is willing to commit to the team, subject to free agency.
"I had a really good discussion with British Basketball around Christmas and had some good feedback from the players about how Joe coached last summer," Deng told gbbasketball.com.
"I'm really excited about playing with Great Britain again and hope to get my free agency sorted so I can make this happen. I'm eager to get back in that GB jersey and on the road to Rio 2016."
Prunty is unable to discuss Deng's availability due to NBA regulations but insisted he was happy with the shape of the squad available this summer, with Portland centre Joel Freeland also confirming his commitment to be involved.
"I like where we are as a programme and every summer, we're working on getting better," he said.
"We had a very good summer last year across the board with Great Britain. Look at the U20s and the women's teams as well as the men.
"For us specifically, we are still continuing to build and get better off the back of last year. We want to have a great summer this year and we know we've got a lot of work ahead of us."
Meanwhile, Prunty has signed a new deal to say as British head coach in the build up to the 2016 Olympics in Rio.
"Once I signed on last year, I've always been committed to the programme," he added.
"I did change jobs in the United States and I wanted to get approval from the Brooklyn Nets. I spoke with management and the coaching staff. I'm really excited to still be involved with Great Britain and look forward to continuing. "
