Musgrave rues weather as Sochi course slows her progress

Posy Musgrave admitted the conditions played their part as she brought her Winter Olympic campaign to a conclusion in Sochi.

Placing 42nd in the sprint and therefore just missing out on the quarter-finals, Musgrave had one last chance to impress in the 10km classic.

However, handed a high bib number in No.57, she was one of the later starters by which time the bright sunshine had greatly affected the course.

Musgrave finished 66th in 36:18.5 minutes and admitted she just didn’t quite feel right at the impressive Laura Cross Country Ski and Biathlon Center.

“My preparation was really good but I just felt very flat and I didn’t have enough energy,” she said.

“I started off 57th and because of the very sunny weather that slowed down the course slightly.

“I am enjoying my Olympic experience but what this has taught me is that I personally prefer the sprint.”
