Andy Murray believes his Wimbledon final defeat is the "perfect motivation" in his quest for gold at London 2012 as he brought the Olympic Flame to Centre Court.
The tennis ace carried the torch on to the hallowed turf of the All England Lawn Tennis Club, just over a fortnight after his defeat to Roger Federer. But the Scot said preparations for the Games had left little time to dwell on his heartbreaking loss to the world number one.
Murray said: "You don't look back, you try and look forward. I've had some good practices the last 10 days or so. I've trained hard and after Wimbledon it's perfect motivation to get ready for an event like this. I'm sure the atmosphere is going to be great and I'll need all the support I can get."
After stepping off court with the flame, Murray carried it through the Wimbledon grounds before handing the torch to triple Olympic gold medallist Venus Williams at "Henman Hill".
He added: "It was great. I'd obviously seen the last few days on the news as the torch arrived into London. It's been a great atmosphere across the whole city so to get the chance to do that is incredible."
Wimbledon is the venue for London 2012's tennis tournament.
Murray was one of 187 torchbearers to carry the flame 36.88 miles through the London boroughs of Lewisham, Bromley, Croydon, Sutton, Merton and Wandsworth on Monday.
The torch is on the final week of its journey to the Olympic Park, with the opening ceremony on Friday. Its circuit of the capital sees it pass through each of the city's 33 local authority areas.
