Muirhead one win from clean sweep at European Curling

Eve Muirhead produced a dominant performance to thrash Switzerland at the European Curling Championships - and is now just one win from gold.

The world champion, who is seeking to upgrade her European silver from last year, won her tenth straight match, brushing aside Swiss skip Mirjam Ott 10-3.

Muirhead seized control in the fourth and fifth ends and wrapped up the match in just eight ends, thanks to a four in the one-sided seventh.

Switzerland will now have another chance to make the final when they play Sweden later tonight, with the loser taking on Denmark for bronze.

Muirhead has now reached four straight European finals and after a flawless week is rightly confident of giving parity to a record of one win and two defeats.

"We're stamping down a marker before the Olympics," she said, when asked about the performance of team-mates Anna Sloan, Vicki Adams and Claire Hamilton.

"That was our aim for the Europeans and we're working really hard towards it. This is a major championship and it means a lot but everything is a stepping stone towards Sochi.

"Canada will be watching this championship and seeing us dominating and we'll be giving it everything in the gold medal match, whoever we are playing."
