Mixed fortunes for Barr at World Curling

Scottish skip Kerry Barr had a mixed day at the women's World Curling Championships in Canada.

Barr secured a 6-4 victory over winless Czech Republic but then suffered a final stone 8-7 defeat to Chinese rival Sijia Liu, leaving her rink's record as two wins and three defeats, with six round-robin matches to play.

"I don’t think we were running out of steam, we were just out-played there at the end they made their shots and we didn’t," admitted Barr, after the China defeat.

"I think we’ll bounce back, the girls all did play well, we couldn’t have played the last couple of ends much better.”

Barr's rink Rachael Simms, Rhiann Macleod and Barbara McPake will face two teams with better records on Tuesday - Russia and hosts and favourites Canada.

Meanwhile, Swiss skip Binia Feltscher remains unbeaten after five matches.
