Marshall guarantees another medal for Britain in Hungary

Savannah Marshall ensured that Great Britain’s women’s boxers will toast another medal at the European Union Championships as she breezed into the middleweight semi-finals in Hungary.

With Olympic champion Nicola Adams along with Lisa Whiteside and Natasha Jonas all safely through to the final four, Marshall had the chance to join them against Lidia Fidura.

And Marshall, who won the middleweight world title little over two months before the London 2012 Olympics where she was to lose her first fight, did so with ease defeating her Polish opponent 3-0.

With bronze now guaranteed, she will face Love Holgersson of Sweden in a bid to fight for gold in Keszthely while Welsh boxer Lynsey Holdaway is also in semi-final action against Valeria Calabrese.
