Ling and Allen on GB World Class Performance Programme

British Shooting performance director Steve Seligmann insists the future is bright after revealing the latest athletes named on the World Class Performance Programme.

Elena Allen and Ed Ling are the big names on the list after the pair secured Team GB Rio quota places for Rio 2016 after shining at the recent World Championships.

They are joined at Podium level by Steven Scott, with a further eight athletes – including the likes of Amber Hill and Charlotte Kerwood – selected at Podium Potential level.

A further 13 names have been called up to the GB Academy Programme, and with an extra nine athletes facing a rigorous six-month confirmation period in order to gain a permanent spot, Seligmann is adamant there is more success right around the corner.

He said: “I would like to congratulate all the athletes named on the World Class Performance Programme.

“They have demonstrated the potential to fulfill their Olympic aspirations at Rio, Tokyo and beyond and it’s very exciting to be able to make this announcement.

“Our vision is to be recognised as a world leading Olympic shooting nation and we are entering an important phase as we aim to secure further quota places for Rio – as well as develop a GB Performance pathway that will produce a consistent supply of world class athletes aspiring to gain Olympic success.

“I would like to thank UK Sport, in association with the National Lottery for providing the funding to make this programme possible.”
