The Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games are already the big target for me and I want to focus on the individual sprint now.
Two gold medals in Tokyo is my goal – in the individual sprint and the team sprint.
I think I’m going to ride my first World Cup in February, so I’ve got quite a bit of training coming up now just to get fit.
Rio was an amazing Games – we hit our targets and it’s always good to come home with a gold medal – but I’m pretty much ready to go back training.
I haven’t really got anything to moan about from Rio. There can be negative things if you come home with a silver or bronze and think ‘I could have done better to take gold’ but that’s not the case for me.
I’m going back into training this week, so I’ll have a big meeting and sit down with my coaches and support team to see how I can improve.
London 2012 was a massive home Games with the media coverage and the whole country was engrossed in it. It’s something we’ll never experience again.
In Rio, when you went outside it wasn’t the same atmosphere as in London but away Games are always different.
The village experience was pretty much the same though, just because you sit in the flat trying to rest up.
The racing experience was the same as well. The crowd in the velodrome was full of British people, so it did feel a little bit like a home Games at times.
I’ve just been relaxing since getting back from Rio – doing a few appearances and a bit of media.
I did a track day with PalmerSport at Bedford Autodrome last week alongside the other cyclists and Chris Hoy, which was probably the best thing I’ve done since getting back. I got straight in an Ariel Atom, which was brilliant.
Obviously Chris pretty much does motor racing as his job these days and I think he had the second-fastest time ever around the track.
He was just a bit slower than Jolyon Palmer who drives in F1, so that was pretty impressive.
I was also at the ‘I Am Team GB’ day at Ullswater Yacht Club at the end of last month. My girlfriend is from Carlisle, so I’m familiar with the Lake District.
It was awesome to experience sailing, we were out on the water for about an hour but what was great was seeing so many children trying a new sport, especially a water sport as its quite hard to get access to.
