Laugher sixth in 3m springboard final in Beijing

Jack Laugher placed sixth in the 3m springboard event on the second day of the first leg of the 2014 Diving World Series in the Water Cube in Beijing.

Laugher impressed during the semi-finals in China, progressing through to the final as the winner of the first of two after producing a total of 471.30 points for his six dives.

And, despite improving in the final, a hotly-contested medal showdown saw Laugher miss out on a podium place by just over 12 points with a total of 476.05.

A day after Daniel Goodfellow and Lee Matthew won 10m synchro bronze for Britain on day one, Ukrainian Illya Kvasha took bronze with 484.80 as He Chong claimed gold ahead of Lin Yue.

Elsewhere fellow Brit Rebecca Gallantree was fourth in her 3m springboard to miss out on the final with Olympic bronze medallist Tom Daley among those in action in the 10m platform on Sunday.
