Defending champion Jason Kenny was beaten in the opening bout of the men's sprint final at the Track Cycling World Championships by France's Gregory Bauge.
It was a rematch of the 2011 final, when Kenny was beaten 2-0 by the Frenchman, who was later stripped of the title for an anti-doping offence, handing the 24-year-old from Bolton the rainbow jersey.
Sir Chris Hoy, beaten by Kenny in the semi-final, met Australia's Shane Perkins for bronze.
The Scot won the first bout and avoided relegation from the officials despite appearing to exit the sprinters' lane in a tight tussle with Perkins.
