Michael Jamieson was among the medals on the first day of the FINA World Cup in Moscow while Sophie Allen joined him as she claimed one from her three finals.
Jamieson, who claimed Olympic silver in the 200m breaststroke at London 2012, has a fine pedigree in a short-course pool and it was in that environment in which he was racing in Russia.
A silver medallist in the 200m breaststroke at last year’s short course World Championships, Jamieson collected the same colour on the first day of two at the third World Cup leg.
Qualifying for the 200m breaststroke final in fourth, Jamieson went significantly quicker to clock 2:06.90minutes for silver behind Russian European champion Viatcheslav Sinkevich.
Allen was the busiest British swimmer in Moscow, qualifying for three finals in the evening and it was in the 200m medley in which she prospered most.
She clocked 2:08.29 for silver behind short-course sensation Katinka Hosszu and was fifth in the 100m breaststroke and eighth in the 100m butterfly.
Jamieson and Allen were joined in final action in Russia by a third Brit with Ben Proud clocking a personal best of 23.51seconds to finish seventh in the 50m butterfly.
He was also in action in the 100m freestyle but, despite beginning the day with a personal best of 49.20, he failed to make it out of the heats and into the final.
