Great Britain's John Jackson led his crew to a European silver medal in their final race before Sochi 2014 thanks to a fourth-place finish in the Koenigssee World Cup event.
The team of Jackson, Stuart Benson, Bruce Tasker and Joel Fearon produced a combined time of 1:38.84 minutes from their two runs which was an agonising 0.01 seconds behind Canada who earned World Cup bronze in third.
Steve Holcomb's USA team finished first in a time of 1:38.54, with Switzerland taking World Cup silver in second 0.09 seconds further back and also securing European gold in the process.
Germany's Maximilian Arndt, who could only finish eighth, still leads the overall standings on 1574 points with Holcomb just 60 points further back.
The result for Jackson and his crew was their second best of the season and also marks the first time Great Britain have earned a medal in the four-man discipline in 20 years.
