HRH The Princess Royal To Visit Team GB Preparation Camp

The British Olympic Association will welcome a special guest to the Team GB Preparation Camp at Loughborough University on Wednesday, 4th July when Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal visits.

HRH The Princess Royal is the President of the British Olympic Association and a member of the International Olympic Committee.  An accomplished equestrian athlete, she competed for Great Britain at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal and was a three-time medallist in the European Evening Championships.

During her visit to the Team GB Preparation Camp, HRH The Princess Royal will be welcomed by five-time Olympic gold medallist and Team GB Ambassador Sir Steve Redgrave; Team GB Chef de Mission Andy Hunt; and Preparation Camp Director Mike Hay.  Officials from the Leicestershire County Council, Charnwood Borough Council and Loughborough University will also be on hand for the visit.

HRH The Princess Royal will tour the Team GB Experience, which includes the ‘kitting out’ process delivered by adidas and Next, and meet with Team GB athletes from the sports of rhythmic gymnastics and women’s volleyball.  She will also visit a training session for the men’s basketball team – one of 13 sports conducting their pre-Games training at the Team GB Preparation Camp.
